Protective factors are social conditions or personal attributes that help lessen the risk of trauma for an individual, family or community.

Protective factors are parental knowledge of child development.

We also know protective factors can include social connections and social and emotional competence. That's relative to that time period.

Trauma impacts brain development as well as physical health.
